A heat pump moves heat instead of creating it. In summer it pulls heat out of your home and releases it outside, just like an air conditioner. In winter it reverses and brings heat from the outdoor air inside. Because it moves heat rather than burning fuel, it is very efficient.
Yes. Heat pumps are one of the best choices for Northeast Florida. Our winters are mild enough for a heat pump to heat efficiently almost all season, and the same system handles cooling and dehumidification all summer. You get one system, one maintenance schedule and lower operating costs.
Most heat pumps in Florida last about 10 to 15 years. Because they run for both heating and cooling, they work more hours per year than a standard AC. Twice-yearly maintenance, clean filters and a clear outdoor unit help yours last as long as possible.
Heat pump air is warm, usually about 90 to 100°F, but it can feel cooler than air from a furnace. The system also runs short defrost cycles in cold weather, which can blow cool air for a few minutes. If the air stays cold or the outdoor unit is covered in ice, call us for service.
A dual-fuel system pairs an electric heat pump with a gas furnace. The heat pump handles cooling and most of your heating, and the furnace takes over automatically during colder snaps, when gas heat is more efficient. It is a smart option for homes that already have gas service.
