At a certain point, when outdoor temperatures get very cold, the gas furnace becomes more efficient at heating than the heat pump. At this temperature, the thermostat senses the cold outdoor temperature and automatically switches on the gas furnace and switches off the heat pump, maximizing the efficiency of your heating system.
This "best of both worlds" approach means you're always using whichever source costs less to run — the electric heat pump when temperatures are mild, the powerful gas furnace when it gets genuinely cold.
Mild Weather — Heat Pump Mode
When temperatures are above the balance point, the electric heat pump runs efficiently and keeps operating costs low.
Cold Weather — Gas Furnace Mode
When temperatures drop below the balance point, the system automatically switches to the gas furnace for powerful, reliable heat.
Trane Hybrid Heat Pumps
This Energy Star qualified system includes a variable speed gas furnace for greatest efficiency, and variable speed heat pump. This system includes intelligent features such as ComfortLink II Communicating Capability.
EXPLORE PRODUCTThe XL16i's SEER rating of up to 17 and HSPF of up to 9.60 make it an energy-efficient choice for home comfort.
EXPLORE PRODUCTThe XR14's SEER rating of up to 14 and HSPF of up to 8.20 gives you the right mix of heating, cooling, and energy efficiency, which may help lower your home energy costs.
EXPLORE PRODUCTMaximum Energy Savings
The system automatically chooses the cheapest energy source — electric heat pump in mild weather, gas when it's very cold.
Comfort in All Conditions
Never sacrifice comfort for efficiency. The gas furnace kicks in automatically when temperatures drop, delivering powerful heat.
Automatic Switchover
No manual intervention — the thermostat monitors outdoor temperature and switches between heat pump and furnace automatically.
Reduced Carbon Footprint
By using electricity for most heating needs and only gas when necessary, a hybrid system produces significantly fewer emissions.
Air Conditioning in Summer
The heat pump component provides efficient air conditioning in summer — one system handles both heating and cooling year-round.
Backup Reliability
With two fuel sources, you always have a backup. If one component needs service, the other keeps your home comfortable.
Let Einstein Air Services evaluate your home and recommend the right hybrid heat pump and gas furnace combination for maximum comfort and savings in Jacksonville.
