SCHEDULE A REPAIRNot Heating or Cooling
System runs but doesn't produce heat or cool air — often a refrigerant issue, reversing valve failure, or compressor fault.
Frozen Coils or Ice Buildup
Ice on the outdoor or indoor unit signals refrigerant loss, restricted airflow, or a defrost board failure.
Refrigerant Leak
Low refrigerant reduces efficiency and can permanently damage the compressor. We locate, repair, and recharge to manufacturer spec.
Strange Noises
Grinding, squealing, or clanking indicate worn bearings, loose parts, or compressor issues — don't ignore them.
System Won't Turn On
Tripped breakers, failed capacitors, faulty thermostats, or control board issues can all prevent startup.
Poor Airflow or Short Cycling
Clogged filters, duct problems, or an oversized system cause short cycling and uneven temperatures throughout your home.

First check that the thermostat is set to Heat, the filter is clean and the outdoor unit is not blocked by leaves or plants. If the outdoor unit is covered in ice, or the auxiliary heat runs all the time, the problem is often low refrigerant, a failed defrost control, a stuck reversing valve, a bad capacitor or a failing compressor. Our technicians test each of these and give you a flat-rate price for the repair.
A light layer of frost on the outdoor unit in cold weather is normal, and the defrost cycle should clear it within about an hour. A thick layer of ice that does not melt, or any ice in the summer, is not normal. It can be caused by low refrigerant, poor airflow, a failed outdoor fan motor or a faulty defrost sensor or board. Do not chip the ice off. Turn the system off and call us.
Long run times can be normal, especially for variable-speed systems that run at low speed to keep temperatures steady. If the system runs constantly and still does not reach the temperature on the thermostat, the cause may be low refrigerant, dirty coils, leaky ductwork, a failing compressor or a unit that is too small for the home. A technician can measure the system's performance and find the cause.
In cold weather, a short burst of steam during the defrost cycle is normal. The system briefly reverses to melt frost from the outdoor coil, and you may also hear a whoosh as it switches modes. If you see smoke instead of steam, or smell something burning, turn the system off at the breaker and call us right away.
A whooshing sound when the heat pump starts or ends a defrost cycle is the reversing valve shifting, and it is normal. Grinding, screeching, rattling or loud banging is not. These sounds usually point to worn motor bearings, a loose fan blade or a compressor problem, and the system should be checked before the damage spreads.
Yes. We repair Mitsubishi and other major brands of ductless mini-splits. Common problems include dirty filters and coils, clogged condensate drains, refrigerant leaks at the line connections and sensor or communication errors that show up as blinking lights or error codes on the indoor unit.
It depends on the problem. Replacing a capacitor, contactor or defrost sensor costs much less than replacing a reversing valve or compressor. Our standard residential diagnostic fee is $89, and our technicians give you a flat-rate price before any repair begins, along with an honest opinion on whether repair or replacement makes more sense.
