Furnace Won't Turn On
Faulty igniter, failed control board, tripped limit switch, or bad thermostat — we diagnose and fix all startup failures fast.
Not Producing Enough Heat
Dirty filters, cracked heat exchangers, or gas valve issues can prevent your furnace from reaching your thermostat setting.
Short Cycling
Furnace turns on and off repeatedly without completing a full heating cycle — usually caused by a dirty flame sensor or overheating.
Loud or Strange Noises
Banging, screeching, or rattling from your furnace signals a mechanical problem — blower motor, bearings, or loose panels.
Pilot Light or Ignition Issues
A pilot light that won't stay lit or an electronic ignition that fails to spark will prevent your furnace from producing any heat.
Blower Runs Constantly
A blower that runs non-stop without heating usually points to a faulty limit switch or thermostat fan setting issue.

Check that the thermostat is set to Heat with the set temperature above room temperature and good batteries. Make sure the furnace power switch and breaker are on and the furnace door panel is closed, since an open panel trips a safety switch. A clogged air filter can also cause the furnace to shut itself off. If it still will not run, the cause is often a failed igniter, a dirty flame sensor or a control board problem.
This is called short cycling. The most common causes are a dirty flame sensor, a clogged air filter that makes the furnace overheat and trip the high-limit switch, a thermostat in a bad location, or a furnace that is too large for the home. Short cycling wastes energy and wears out parts, so it is worth having it checked.
Most modern furnaces have a control board with a small LED that blinks a diagnostic code. The code chart is usually printed on the inside of the furnace door. Write down the pattern of flashes before you call us, because it helps our technician understand the problem and bring the right parts.
Turn the thermostat off, switch off the power to the furnace at its service switch or breaker for about 30 seconds, then turn it back on and set the thermostat to Heat. If the furnace locks out again, do not keep resetting it. Repeated lockouts mean a safety device is detecting a problem that needs a technician.
It depends on the part that failed. Cleaning a flame sensor or replacing an igniter or capacitor costs much less than replacing an inducer motor, gas valve or control board, and a cracked heat exchanger usually means replacement is the safer choice. Our standard residential diagnostic fee is $89, and you get a flat-rate price before any repair begins.
Yes. A clogged filter restricts airflow, which makes the furnace overheat. The high-limit switch then shuts the burners off, causing short cycling and weak heat. Over time, overheating can damage the heat exchanger. Check your filter every month and replace it at least every one to three months.
Leave the house right away with everyone inside. Do not turn lights or appliances on or off, and do not use your phone until you are outside. Once you are safely outside, call your gas utility or 911. After the gas company has made the area safe, call us to inspect and repair your furnace. We also recommend working carbon monoxide detectors on every floor.
Yes. Many Jacksonville homes use an electric furnace or air handler with heat strips. We repair both gas and electric furnaces from all major brands, including failed heating elements, sequencers, relays, blower motors and thermostats.
